Healthy FruitsDrinking enough water to stay properly hydrated during the hot summer months can be tough, but did you know that you can get a big chunk of your daily water intake from solid foods? There are plenty of fruits and veggies that are made of mostly water — and packed with nutrients to boot. Here are five that you can eat to support your body's hydration.
  1. Watermelon: This juicy summer favorite is the perfect outdoor treat, with a cool, refreshing flavor to satisfy both your hunger and thirst. In addition to its water content, watermelon is also one of the richest sources of lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that helps boost your health and immune system.
  2. Cucumbers: This salad staple has the highest water content of any solid food, making it a great addition to any meal. Tired of salads? Try blending cucumber with nonfat yogurt and mint to make a cool cucumber soup for a flavorful, hydrating side dish.
  3. Spinach: Raw spinach leaves are packed with both water content and a host of nutrients, including vitamin E, lutein, fiber, potassium and folate. Make spinach salads or add spinach to your sandwiches for a burst of antioxidants and hydration.
  4. Strawberries: While all berries are a good source of hydration, strawberries contain the highest water content. Slice them up and add them to salads, yogurt or granola. You can also blend them into your smoothies for a refreshing summer cool down.
  5. Tomatoes: There are many varieties of tomatoes, all offering a water-rich burst of flavor when you bite into them. You can pop grape or cherry tomatoes straight into your mouth, or cut up larger varieties for salads and caprese skewers.
